Valesong is a Discord Activity
Launch it from any voice channel in Discord. Play with your friends on your Discord server, or make new ones in the game.
Valesong is a free-to-play, four-player fantasy CCG where a convincing argument is as important as the creatures and powerful spells you play. Players of Magic: The Gathering®’s Commander format and Hearthstone® will find familiar ground, with a new table to master. Enter a beautiful world rich with lore and gather your friends for battles shaped by clever deckbuilding and shifting alliances. Share a unit with a newfound ally, and they might return the favor with a shield just as an opponent moves in for the attack. With cards playable during other players’ turns, a little cooperation can change everything.
What makes Valesong different

Valesong is a 4-player game where anyone can attack anyone else. That means board politics matter a lot. It also means you can help your friends and get help when you need it most. Be ready for betrayals, because allies may only be temporary.

Heroes can be any of our 7 classes: Warrior, Rogue, Cleric, Mage, Beastmaster, Necromancer and Ranger. They each come with one Active and one Passive ability.

Lend a creature to an ally and fight side by side. A shared unit can hold back an attacker or tip a fight, and a friend you helped might return the favor when you need it most.

Instant spells can be cast during other players’ turns, so holding open Mana matters, and sometimes just the threat of that is enough to stave off death.

Wards are secret enchantments that give opponents the chance to know at a glance that something’s waiting for them. These can be played on your Hero and your creatures.

Because Valesong is a heavily social game, we felt that adding Voice is important. We want table talk, and it’s an important part of the game. It’s on by default, but you can always turn it off.
We want to let our players become creators too. At launch, players will be able to make their own Cardbacks and use them in games. In the future, we’re going to let players make entire card art sets with our Card Generation AI.
A four-player free-for-all card battler. Each player leads a Hero and a deck of creatures, spells, enchantments, equipment and artifacts, and the last Hero standing wins. The game plays very much like a combination of Magic: The Gathering®’s Commander format and Hearthstone®. Our goal is a highly social game where winning is fun, but so is just playing casually with a group of friends, old or new.
In Casual mode, four players battle in a free-for-all. In our upcoming Competitive mode, it’s 2v2.
We’re launching exclusively as a Discord Activity, which means the game can be played on any Discord server from a voice channel.
Valesong launches on October 29th on Discord.
Valesong is going to be on PC/Mac at launch and will be coming to Steam a few months after we launch. Mobile is coming, but we’re not ready to announce a date for that yet.
The 2026 Core Set has 400 cards: 139 creatures, 112 spells, 56 enchantments, 28 equipment, 20 artifacts, 3 companions, 14 Heroes and 28 abilities.
Valesong is a very traditional digital CCG, so of course you can purchase things like packs, bundles and Cardbacks. You can even make your own Cardbacks by purchasing a Cardback Creation ticket from the store. At launch, we’re going to give everyone one of these.
Yes, we did. For more information, see the AI Usage section of this website.
We’re launching Valesong in Early Access on Discord. We will make card balance changes, but if we ever change a card drastically, we’ll always give you the ability to use Echoes (our version of Dust) to get another card for free. It’s a CCG, and sometimes things look good and play well right up until a clever player thinks of a too-powerful combo that breaks the game.
We strongly believe in transparency about how we made Valesong.
The entire game was designed by humans, including the Heroes and the card text. That’s the game itself, and we had a lot of fun making it.
Card illustrations are generated with AI image models from prompts our team writes. People pick, reject and regenerate each image, and every card goes through our own framing and checks before it ships.
The game board was created by a human artist.
Our developers use AI coding assistants to help write and test the game. People review the work and decide what ships.
Voices use ElevenLabs’ amazing voice tech. We specifically chose voices where the voice actors are paid usage bonuses by ElevenLabs.
VFX are a mixture of mostly human art with some AI effects.
Board Tokens are AI-created art.

Distinct Possibility Studios’ 4-player fantasy free-to-play CCG enters Early Access
SAN DIEGO, California — Distinct Possibility Studios today announced that Valesong, a free-to-play, four-player online fantasy collectible card game, will enter Early Access as a Discord Activity on October 29, 2026, at noon Pacific. The game invites players into the beautiful world and lore of Valesong, brought to life through its characters, creatures, and cards. Players build decks, make alliances, share units, and play cards during each other’s turns in a game designed to bring the strategy and conversation of a card-game night directly into Discord.
Valesong is designed to appeal to players who enjoy the social multiplayer dynamics of the Commander format in Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering® and the digital card battles of Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone®. But facing three other players changes the decisions you make. Do you commit your resources to attacking, hold something back to respond during another player’s turn, or help an opponent who can keep a bigger threat in check? An alliance can help you survive, but the player you help is still competing to win.
Players build decks around seven classes, combining creatures, spells, equipment, artifacts, enchantments, abilities, heroes, and companions. Sharing units lets players support each other on the board, while the ability to play cards during other players’ turns keeps everyone involved in the action. A player struggling against the strongest board can ask the table for help, negotiate support, and give the others a reason to cooperate. Those conversations are part of the game: make alliances, share units, and talk people into things that help your board.
The experience is as much about the fun and social dynamics as it is about strategic cardplay. Playing with old friends means knowing who might honor a deal and who needs a little convincing; playing with new people means discovering that together. Winning matters, but so does enjoying the unique journey that every game becomes when you’re having fun with other people.
Launching as a Discord Activity lets players gather where their communities already spend time. Players can launch Valesong from their Discord servers, party up, and join their friends in the game. Voice and text chat are enabled by default, making conversation part of the experience from the start, while players who prefer not to use voice can turn it off.
The Early Access release includes a launch set of 400 cards and seven playable classes: Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Cleric, Ranger, Beastmaster, and Necromancer. Many cards are available free, and additional cards can be earned through play as players expand their collections and experiment with different decks. Future expansion packs will introduce more cards and classes.
Community creation is also part of Valesong’s vision. At launch, players will be able to use AI-powered tools to create their own cardbacks, bringing something they helped create into every match. The studio plans to expand those tools over time, with the longer-term goal of allowing players to create full card sets and eventually sell them.
Valesong uses a mixture of human-created art and AI-generated art, alongside AI-assisted tools for programming and voices. The development team makes every creative decision and directs how those tools are used. The studio’s approach also includes a planned opportunity for artists who create without AI to contribute to the game and earn royalties from their work.
After launch, Distinct Possibility Studios plans to introduce an art portal where community artists can submit original, non-AI artwork following published guidelines and examples, with video verification of the creation process. Accepted artwork will be used in Valesong’s first card set featuring entirely non-AI artwork, and participating artists will share in royalties from sales of that set. The program is intended to give artists a direct role in shaping Valesong’s visual identity and a financial stake in the work they contribute.
“As a small indie developer, we’re amazed how much AI can help us realize our vision for the game. The iteration time it allows means we can test new gameplay innovations fast, keep what works, and throw away the stuff that doesn’t,” said John Smedley of Distinct Possibility Studios. “Every part of the process of making this game has humans making every creative decision, with AI helping us execute at an unprecedented speed.”
Valesong will be free to play as a Discord Activity beginning October 29, 2026, at noon Pacific. Early Access marks the beginning of an ongoing development process, with player feedback helping shape future updates, content, and community creation features. For more information, visit Valesong.gg.
